About
The Point

The Point was built by the Rockefellers as a woodland retreat, during the heyday of the Adirondack Great Camps. Today it is a marvelous union of rustic simplicity and extraordinary luxury. The magnificent guest rooms are housed in four log buildings on the peaceful wooded shore of Upper Saranac Lake. The Point is a study in delicious contrasts: exceptional meals, blazing campfires at the edge of the lake, artworks and antiques, and luxury boating and adventure activities. Enjoy gourmet picnic excursions, journeys through the rippling waters in gleaming mahogany boats, and a staff that organizes each day according to the pleasure of the guests. The Point is all-inclusive and includes three gourmet meals a day, premium wines and spirits, four open bars across the property, and all activities and equipment for onsite activities. The Point has a long and beloved tradition of communal dining where dinner service each evening is an elegant, hosted event. Guests are seated at one or two formal tables in our Great Hall and a member of the Point’s management team serves as host, just as the Rockefellers hosted dinner for their guests. Our Chef curates a seasonal menu consisting of flavors and fresh ingredients that are often found on or nearby the property. Prior to your arrival our Reservations Department will inquire regarding any dietary restrictions that you may have to accommodate your needs when creating the menu each day.

More About
The Point

Designated by Forbes as a 5 Star Hotel in Upstate New York as well as first Relais & Chateaux member 35 years ago. Built by William Avery Rockefeller II a century ago, the fanciful log mansions, crafted of native timber and stone, personified the 19th Century romantic notion of “roughing it” in great comfort, style and luxury.   The Point pays tribute to this tradition by honoring guests with its unique combination of great hospitality, privacy and detailed service on each visit. Enjoy an unforgettable stay at The Point, the only Adirondack Great Camp from the Gilded Age open to the public. Realizing that one needs to run away on occasion to relax, refresh, re-examine and replenish the body and spirit, our policy is to appeal to persons 21 years of age and older, unless of course, an exclusive booking is secured. In this case, children of all ages are welcome. Without the distraction of television, limited wi-fi in the office and cell phone coverage in certain areas, guests become "unplugged" and unite with nature, enjoying the sounds of silence in a protected wilderness …harking back to an “old school” lifestyle before the daunting 24 hour news cycle.
