The Silo Hotel stands majestically above the V&A Waterfront, offering stunning views of Cape Town, South Africa’s Mother City. This iconic hotel occupies the grain elevator section of the historic grain silo complex, spanning six floors above the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA), home to the largest collection of contemporary African art on the continent. Designed by Thomas Heatherwick, founder of the renowned London-based Heatherwick Studio, the most striking feature of the hotel’s exterior is its innovative glass windows. These multi-faceted windows, integrated into the building’s original structure, appear to bulge outward like inflated bubbles. At night, The Silo becomes a radiant beacon, glowing across the Table Bay harbour.Topping Cape Town’s new Museum of Contemporary Art Africa, the family-owned Silo Hotel hits all the high notes. The former grain elevator was reimagined from rough concrete into diamond, with crystalline windows and a whimsical elegance.
