In winter, Jackson Hole is home to some of the best skiing in the Rockies, with over 1,000 hectares of slopes. High above Jackson Hole in Wyoming, Amangani (‘peaceful home’) is perched on the crest of East Gros Ventre Butte. The 40-suite retreat is a year-round destination, acting as a premier ski resort from December through March with a private Ski Lounge at the foot of Rendezvous Mountain. Minutes from Grand Teton National Park and 100 kilometres (62 miles) from Yellowstone National Park, the resort is also an ideal base for exploring nature in the warmer months when hiking, mountain biking, wildlife viewing and trout fishing are popular attractions. Amangani offers 40 suites of varying sizes, all with magnificent mountain and valley views. Suites include a bedroom/living room, a bathroom/dressing room, and a private deck or balcony. A deep soaking tub with mountain views is central to each suite’s bathroom. The four Amangani Homes also enjoy full access to the resort’s award-winning facilities, and offer four to six bedrooms. From Amangani’s entrance, 20 steps sweep down to the Lounge with its double-height windows, soaring redwood ceiling and two wood-burning fireplaces. The resort’s main dining venue is the Grill, a 65-seat dining room with mountain views, specialising in local, sustainable ranch meats, fresh fish and seasonal farm-to-table produce. The Zinc Bar provides intimate, window-side pairings of tables and chairs and access to a terrace overlooking the pool. Enjoying panoramic mountain views, Amangani’s 35-metre (115-foot) heated outdoor swimming pool is linked to an expansive whirlpool. With a winter water temperature of about 27°C (80°F), both can be enjoyed year-round.
