I found Fiji to be one of the best island getaways I've taken. Getting there was almost out of a movie - a plane across the US (East Coast to West Coast), then another plane from LA to Fiji, then a small single engine plane from Fiji's main airport to a small regional one, and lastly a boat to our stunning island resort (located on its own island), Royal Davui Island Resort! It sounds like a lot of travel - but it was an incredibly fun experience with my wife, and one of the highlights was the short, cross island flight in Fiji! When we arrived at our private island resort, we were nothing but impressed by the amazing staff and property! After a lovely meet and greet with the staff and a welcome drink, we were whisked away to our private villa, complete with plunge pool. Each room offered amazing views of the ocean and had a lovely sea breeze - again, it was something right out of a movie! The resort is small and intimate, but with a fantastic pool and great beach area. We spent our days snorkeling, enjoying the sun and kayaking in the Pacific. Insiders Tip: The island has access to a gorgeous sand spit which is only available at certain hours of the day. We arranged a private picnic to the island, and where left there for the better part of the day with plenty of food, towels, a sun-umbrella and an emergency phone should we need to be picked up early. Having this sand spit to ourselves was amazing - and because the spit is reclaimed by the tide, each visit means its your own island which no one else will see. Talk about a magical experience!
