Capital Gains

With everything from sports days to scenic cruises on the menu, London is the perfect place to boost team morale. Read on to find the right activity for your company…

Ping Pong Party

London’s nightlife is unrivalled, with options ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous. Somewhere between the two, you’ll find Bounce – a trio of high-energy bars themed around table tennis, with options for conferences and corporate parties onsite. Combine serious business with champion serves at its Battersea branch, in London’s hottest new neighborhood by the revamped Battersea Power Station. Small groups have the option of set packages including food, drink, shuffleboard, wonderboard or ping pong, while larger parties can rent out the entire venue.

Tasty Treasure Hunt

The best of the Capital’s street food scene can sometimes feel like an insider secret. Uncover it via Gourmaze, an outdoor treasure hunt that sends participants across London as they solve riddles that lead them to three gourmet treats in different venues. Give the codes provided by virtual team leader Mr Tasty to restaurant staff and they’ll serve up something extra-special. The company can create larger events for teams of six to race against each other and has themes centred around sweet food and drink, Asian cuisine and pizza.

High Life

Get your adrenaline pumping by hanging out high above London at the O2 stadium. Built to house an exhibition to usher the UK into the 21st-century, this gigantic tent is now one of the Capital’s most popular concert venues. Forget seeing big-name bands, though: the most excitement you can have here is scaling its roof for incredible 360 degree views over London. Climbers are attached to ropes and harnesses as they make the 90-minute journey to the top and there are options to upgrade the experience with a glass of champagne or cocktail masterclass at the end – which might be needed. Corporate groups are catered for, with the option of day, sunset or twilight climbs.

Taking To The Water

The River Thames is the perfect place from which to take in the city’s landmarks, from the London Eye to the glinting Thames Barrier. Make it extra special with a traditional English garden party – aboard a private boat. On an Astroturf-covered deck, guests can play lawn games or dine on food from the barbecue to the soundtrack of a live band as the sun dips and the boat’s edges are illuminated by twinkling lights. West End on the Thames has custom-made boat trips for big-name brands including Revolut and PepsiCo.

Scents of Success

For a chic take on team-building, join luxury brands such as Dior, Chanel and Soho House in booking a workshop with Experimental Perfume Club. Participants can spend a few hours learning the basics of perfumery before creating their own special scents at this academy founded by perfumer Emmanuelle Moeglin. Set on a Covent Garden street packed with some of London’s loveliest boutiques, it’s a great destination for a genteel afternoon.

Lucky Strike

What could be more British than a game of lawn bowls in one of London’s Royal Parks? For a team-building event with a difference, you can hire the six-lane green at Hyde Park, the largest park of them all and home to the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain and The Serpentine lake. Following the exertion, cool off with an ice cream from the park’s onsite gelato van (available for hire) or treat guests to a cocktail party.
