Booking a resort with beekeeping, film-making or drumming sessions for children gives parents more time in the spa, bar or golf course, so everyone’s happy. So here’s our intel on the world’s best kids clubs, from France to Thailand. 

Terre Blanche Hotel Spa Golf Resort, France
Just 40 minutes’ drive from Cannes on France’s southern coast, this luxury resort has an infinity pool overlooking lavender fields and cypress trees. While parents lounge by the water, children can make birdboxes, garden and try beekeeping at the kids’ club or swim in their own pool.

Verdura Resort, Italy
Nestled on Sicily’s western coast, this five-star resort offers kayaking, paddleboarding and scuba diving from its private beach. Little ones will love cooking Italian dishes and cultivating fruit and vegetables at Verduland. They can also do gymnastics, play football and tennis, and learn about film-making, mythology, and recycling.

Pine Cliffs, Portugal
Perched upon a cliff on Algarve’s sunny coast, Pine Cliffs is just steps from a sandy beach. But will children make it there? They might be tempted to linger in Porto Pirata, a 75,350sqft village with pirate ships, a basketball court, kids pool and bouncy castle plus a racing track and 18-hole mini golf course. Parents can stay to play or leave children under supervision.

Lujo Art & Joy, Turkey
Situated on the Aegean coast in south western Turkey, this luxury hotel has an enormous kids’ club complete with a drum kit, ceramic and wood workshops and areas for science experiments and Lego play. Sporty children can do yoga, play basketball or make up routines in a dance academy, while outdoorsy ones can garden. 

Six Senses Zighy Bay, Oman
Tucked in a cove in northern Oman, this resort offers scuba diving, waterskiing, and snorkelling alongside canyoning, hiking, and rock climbing. Children aged four to 12 can build sandcastles or participate in mini-Olympics at Chaica’s Club, which also offers Arabic and cookery classes. Teens meanwhile can learn rappelling, archery, capoeira, survival skills, raft-building and photography at their own club, Al Feeteans.

Joali, Maldives
It might be hard for children to get out of bed at Joali’s over-water villas – until Muramas Kids’ Club calls. Children aged four to 12 can snorkel, waterski and take dhoni boat rides, follow treasure hunts and take cooking lessons. Once they’re exhausted, they can settle down for storytelling sessions and children’s spa treatments.

Soneva Kiri, Thailand
Situated on Koh Kood island near Cambodia, this beautiful resort has a kids’ club designed by children. The Dutch architect Olav Bruin asked children to draw their dream play area, then built it from bamboo. The result? The Den. Six- to 12-year-olds enter via a drawbridge and exit down a slide. There’s a climbing frame and art, music, and fashion rooms inbetween.
